“Compositus”

Made up of distinct parts with references to organic structures in plant species, insects, and wildlife. The “Compositus” series began at Loon Lake in Freedom, NH, where I often find inspiration in the summer. The daily repetition of natural events at dusk provided a rich source for reflection and abstraction. With this work I created to a more composite approach, where individual sections could be re-arranged by chance, as might occur with events in nature. Often parts are not seen but implied. Motion is combined with stillness, improvisation is merged with nature, and lyrical events are repeated to form a complex yet open-ended process.
